Why Bratislava?
Less than 3 days in Stockholm. And we started on our Central European trip:
Bratislava > Vienna > Cesky Krumlov > Prague > Budapest
After putting down our luggage, and in a hurry, did a final checklist and research, we took the Flybussarna to the Skavsta Airport (80 minutes, OMG) and soared into the blue sky of Bratislava. Yeah, our first destination of the so called backpacking, or Central Europe trip.
It was so hot, as if we were back to Equatorial countries on August 14. Could hear complains from our 'da xiao jie' and such. Well, we were used to the cool summer in Stockholm after merely 2 days. I wondered how we will cope with the heat back in Singapore and Malaysia next year.
Well, we did not have a great expectation and we did not do much research. We chose this as the first stop because RyanAir flies here, and was cheapest option to reach central Europe from Stockholm. Luckily it was not expensive to travel from airport to the city center. Typical European transport system they have here, I guess. I still prefer Singapore's.
We found that the tram system in Bratislava is cool. We saw trams in Prague, Vienna and Budapest too! We took the public transport, along with our backpacks, and met Vladimir who was going to the same hostel as us. Slightly disappointed, but what to do, it was the cheapest. It was some hostel that reminded me of UMS's student hostels Kampung E (WJS showed me) with 2 rooms and a common toilet. Well, the hostel was actually student hostels. For the night, we met up with Vladimir who was from Bolivia (oh I have to send him photos!) and walked towards the city center, without a map, and almost directionless. It was fun to get lost. We had dinner in one of the cafe, the Slovakian waitress tried very hard to translate the menu, thanks. Beers were cheaper than soft drink and of course I ordered that.
After this, without knowing much about Bratislava, we ventured into the old town, which was hidden after a main street.
Some interesting Slovakia teenagers added some spice into the picture when I posed the photo with Wilbur.
We left Slovakia by train to Vienna the next day. The aunty at the station tricked us into buying a return ticket... Well, communication problem, but that was again, fun.
