I go into Barefoot Running too

Started my barefoot running!! #vibram

I happened to get this pair of shoes much cheaper than Singapore market price due to their promotion in Run expo, the Vibram Five Fingers Bikila!

Did my first run in it, for about 2km, and now my calf muscle is taking a toll from the run! Great run though!

Penang (2): Clan Jetties of Georgetown

One of the Malaysian cities that got listed in UNESCO world heritage site. Indeed, it is impressive and full of beautiful colonial style buildings hybrid with local cultures.

We started off at the Clan Jetties (姓氏桥) when my Aunt dropped me off after breakfast of Lor Mee. It was definitely a surprise to me that such jetties are also part of Georgetown. How culturally rich this straits city is!

The houses at the jetties still retain the wooden planks which tell all the stories of "the good old fishing days" only to be better now. I wonder how it feels to stay inside these houses, that suddenly become tourist spot, which means visitors from everywhere in the world. I bet they must pride themselves as the residents of Georgetown.

The folks at the clan jetties were so friendly, that it really changed my perception towards the straits city. Some nodded their head towards us, even when we 'intruded' their beloved jetties. An aunty of Lee Jetty with her celebrity grandson chatted with us cheerfully about the progress the jetties had undergone since they appeared numerous times in successful local movies.

And then, we came to the most popular Chew Jetty, with all the beautiful tourist-friendly artwork lying along the pathway, and of course the jetty that was most populated with tourists. Despite this, the residents there were still friendly towards visitors. An indian aunty recounted she became one of the residents there, and the fire that burnt one house to ashes. An uncle talked to us about the delicacies nearby, with his toddler in his arms.

Even a dog resident of the clan jetties, was friendly towards us. Everyone has a smile here.

Penang (1): Seeking the Oriental Pearl

We love #penang ! Such a pearl previously hidden from my life!

This is the first entry that I can truly categorize as "Travel" in the year of 2012. I definitely need more of these to enrich my soul. I can't let myself succumb to the fate of most working-class adults. This is the resolution I just made today. I almost going to abandon updating travelogues, but, I had just got rid of a pain / photobook that clung on me, killing all my interest for other things and basically I procrastinated, to avoid working on something that I didn't enjoy at all. I have to embrace it again. My passion towards photography, and life.

The adventure to seek out pearl of the Orient, starts here.

A weekend retreat of March. A journey to seek relaxation of soul and rediscovery of an old place well known but not exploited in memory. And how lucky we are to have my aunt to be there in Penang to show us all the warmth of hers.

I know, she was excited. So did I. After all, this is our first trip together.

Flight waiting

Recounting the seconds that we had lived on the island, and the food that we had tried, is not really that difficult, given we had such good time on the island.

Run350: 2012

Waking up early to catch the shuttle bus. A training run for me to catch up with the half marathon in Sundown next month!

Run350, a run for a cause. Though I feel like there actually no one cares about saving the Earth while running.

Not exactly crowded, can't comment that it is well organized but at least they cater shuttle bus from everywhere to the center. The route is the boring route that is the same as most of the other 10km runs I did, which spans Flyer and Nicoll Highway.

Great run

Improvement on my own speed and ranking as compared to previous 10km runs! Hey it's not too bad, a one minute improvement over last year's SCB 10km run!!
